Encounter Index
Al'ar Medium
Al'ar is a phoenix that flies between four platforms in P1, dies, then resurrects on the ground for P2. P1 is choreographed: hit her on platform A, she flies to B, repeat. P2 is melee phase with flame patches, Flame Buffet stacks, and Ember adds.
Phase 1 (100% → 0% on first life)
- Platform Cycle: Al'ar lands on the four platforms in a fixed rotation. Melee follow her between landings; ranged DPS stand in the center of the room and reach her on any platform from there.
- Flame Quills: she rises center and rains fire columns across the room. Get under a platform or into a fire-free corner.
- Adds (Phoenix Hatchlings): spawn on the floor after she flies between platforms. Bottom-platform tank picks them up; AoE down quickly.
Phase 2 (resurrects at center of room)
- Stationary Phase: Al'ar stays in the center of the room. Tanks pick her up from there.
- Melt Armor: debuff on MT. Heavy armor reduction. This is the tank-swap mechanic — and Al'ar IS tauntable. When Melt Armor stacks high, the off-tank taunts to take over. Only warriors and feral druids have taunts; Gayboi can't taunt-swap on Al'ar.
- Flame Patch: drops a fire patch under random raiders. Move out.
- Dive Bomb: Al'ar flies up roughly every 40 seconds and dives onto her position. Heavy fire damage in a splash radius + spawns 2 Embers of Al'ar. Counter: when she flies up, the entire raid stacks in the dead center of the room — when she dives down, you've moved out and her splash hits empty floor.
- Embers of Al'ar: spawn from Dive Bombs. They explode when killed for AoE damage. Kite them out of the raid before killing — explosion can wipe stacked groups.
- Soft enrage: ~8-9 minutes. Lust during P2 burn.
Tank Plan
Considering an option: Gayboi as permanent ground tank (P2 + the bottom platform in P1) leaves Havitz + Bluelazer free to handle the Melt Armor swap. Gayboi holds multi-mob threat better than a fury war and Bluelazer can actually Growl-taunt off Havitz when stacks build.
| Phase | Tank | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| P1 Top Platforms | Havitz | Tank Al'ar on the upper platforms when she lands. Sunder spam for fast threat. |
| P1 Bottom Platform — Hatchling adds + ground role | Gayboi | Stays on the bottom platform throughout P1 — picks up Phoenix Hatchlings with Consecrate + Holy Wrath. Permanent ground role through P2. |
| P2 — Initial pickup | Gayboi | Continues from P1 ground role; first to grab Al'ar when she resurrects. |
| P2 — Melt Armor swap | Havitz ↔ Bluelazer (Growl-taunt) | When MT's Melt Armor stacks too high: Havitz calls "swapping" in voice, Bluelazer taunts off (bear Growl works). Kalicar pre-switches healing target on the call. |
| Ember Kiter | Bluelazer (when not tanking) or Gayboi | Pick up Embers and kite them OUT of raid before kill — explosion wipes stacks. Do NOT kite into Al'ar. |
Healing Assignments
| Phase | Role | Healers |
|---|---|---|
| P1 | MT (active platform) | Morrigan + Crpc + Jerzee + Kalicar |
| P1 | Raid healer | Voidtroyer (CoH + PoM through Flame Quills) |
| P1 | Ground tank healer (Gayboi on Hatchlings) | Littlemoon (Lifebloom rolling on Gayboi, Rejuv on bottom-platform group) |
| P1 → P2 | Pre-switch (after transition) | Kalicar — pre-switches her heal frame when Havitz calls "and-swap" |
| P2 | MT (Al'ar in center) | Morrigan + Crpc + Jerzee + Kalicar |
| P2 | Raid (Dive Bomb cluster) | Voidtroyer |
| P2 | Ground tank healer (Gayboi) | Littlemoon |
Dispels
- Flame Buffet: NOT dispellable. Tank swap.
- No other significant dispellable debuffs.
Void Reaver Easy — post-nerf stack-up
Post-nerf burn strategy: everyone stacks up instead of the old spread positioning. Designated orb soakers eat incoming arcane orbs so they can't bounce through a spread raid. Healers and DPS stack tight on the boss with melee — Chain Heal + Prayer of Healing top everyone up between Pounding ticks. Done in 3-4 minutes.
Mechanics
- Pounding: melee-range AoE channel. Stacked group all eats it — but Chain Heal + Prayer of Healing on a tight cluster trivializes the damage. Healers focus the stack during Pounding ticks.
- Arcane Orb: spawns and floats toward a random ranged target. On impact, deals 4.6k–6.3k arcane damage and silences 20yd. Counter: three designated soakers (Banderp, Outis, Dolmar) stand off the stack and intercept orbs — they're tougher than healers and silence on them doesn't impact rotation.
- Knock Away: tank knockback + threat reduction. Run back, rebuild threat fast (Sunder spam). Void Reaver is NOT tauntable.
- 10-minute hard enrage — irrelevant post-nerf burn.
Tank Plan
| Role | Tank | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| MT | Havitz | Centre tank. Knock Away might pull threat — recover with Heroic Strike + Sunder spam. |
| OT | Gayboi | Consecrate at MT's feet for backup threat. If MT is knocked, Gayboi can't taunt (paladin) — Avenger's Shield + Judgement to hold the boss until Havitz rebuilds. |
| Flex | Bluelazer | Cat DPS. No add tank duty. |
Healing Assignments — Stack-Up Heals
| Role | Player | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| MT Heals | Morrigan + Crpc + Jerzee | Shamans chain heal off the tank — Earth Shield + Chain Heal jumps into melee cluster. |
| Group 1 & 2 stack heals | Kalicar | CoH one group, PoH the other on a 6s cycle. |
| Group 3 & 4 stack heals | Voidtroyer | Same — CoH one, PoH the other. |
| Group 5 / emergency raid | Littlemoon | Lifebloom rolling on tank + Rejuv on raid cluster. Tranquility for emergencies. |
Innervate Chain
Long fight + Pounding healer drain = mana gets thin. Innervates pre-assigned:
- Bluelazer's Innervate → Voidtroyer
- Littlemoon's Innervate → Kalicar
- Outis backup Innervate → whoever is mana-critical (likely Morrigan on long Pounding cycles)
Orb Soakers
Banderp + Outis + Dolmar stand off the main stack to intercept incoming orbs. Each soaker eats the orb that targets them; the silence is on a non-rotation class (hunter pet auto-attacks unaffected; druid HoTs stay rolling).
Dispels
None. Just don't eat orbs.
High Astromancer Solarian Medium
Solarian is a 3-phase fight. P1 has waves of small adds + a debuff that requires dispels. P2 (around 50%) she vanishes and 3 elite Solarium Priests spawn alongside her copies; one copy is the real Solarian. P3 she returns as a giant void shape and the fight is a burn.
Phase 1 (100% → ~20%)
- Wrath of the Astromancer: debuff on a random raider. After it expires, deals arcane damage and knocks the target + nearby allies into the air. Counter: ranged DPS stay clumped together — when one of them is targeted, only that single player needs to move out before the debuff expires. Then dispel.
- Disrupting Energies: targeted ground patch. Move.
- Arcane Missiles: heavy single-target damage.
Phase 2 (~50%) — Split Phase
- Solarian phases out. Solarium Agents spawn from beams of light — tank picks them up and the raid AoEs them down.
- After Agents die, Solarian reappears alongside 2 Solarium Priest copies. The Priests are the priority — focus them down (they shield/heal otherwise).
- Once priests are dead, burn whatever's left until P3.
Phase 3 (~20% → 0%) — Burn
- Solarian becomes a giant void shape. Bigger hitbox.
- Voidbolt: heavy single-target on tank. ~10k.
- Psychic Scream: AoE fear. Spoofy Tremor Totem in melee.
- Bloodlust on P3 entry.
Tank Plan
| Role | Tank | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| MT | Havitz | Tank Solarian P1 + P3. Voidbolt = Shield Block. |
| Add Tank | Gayboi | Pick up wave adds with Avenger's Shield + Consecrate. Tag the priest immediately. |
| P2 copies | Bluelazer | Bear up to grab the copies during P2 transition. |
Interrupt & Dispel Rotation
- Solarium Priest Greater Heal: Earth Shock chain Spoofy → Crpc → Jerzee → Ellic. Backup Pummel from Nocharles/Saexgg/Bushpig + Kick from Jays dumbass.
- Wrath of the Astromancer (Magic, CRITICAL): primary Kalicar (sole job in P1); backup Voidtroyer, Morrigan Cleanse, Felhunters from Gladwrap/Meta/Gond Devour Magic.
- Psychic Scream (P3): Spoofy Tremor Totem in melee + Voidtroyer/Kalicar Fear Ward on tank (universal in TBC Anniversary). Melee back up with PvP trinkets if a Tremor pulse misses.
Healing Assignments
| Phase | Role | Healers |
|---|---|---|
| P1 | No real MT — everyone raid heals | Solarian doesn't melee a tank in P1; just Arcane Missiles + AoE. Everyone covers raid. |
| P1 | Wrath dispels (only when clear) | Kalicar — sole responsibility, only dispel when she's clear of the cluster. |
| P1 | Shields on Arcane Missile targets | Voidtroyer — PW:Shield pre-emptive on whoever Solarian targets. |
| P2 | MT (real Solarian) | Morrigan + Jerzee |
| P2 | OT (priest copies) | Crpc + Littlemoon (skip if Gayboi solo-tanks both priests) |
| P2 | Raid | Voidtroyer + Kalicar |
| P3 | MT burn | Everyone — Voidbolt spike on Havitz. Spoofy Tremor Totem; Fear Ward on tank. |
Kael'thas Sunstrider Hard — tier endboss
The hardest fight in TBC pre-Hyjal. Five distinct phases. P1 is 4 advisor adds. P2 is 7 floating weapons. P3 is the 4 advisors revived. P4 is Kael alone. P5 is gravity lapse, mind controls, and pyroblasts. Plan to spend several raid nights here on first kill.
Phase Overview
Phase 1 — The Four Advisors
- Thaladred the Darkener (THAL): rogue. Gazes random raiders, runs at them. Cannot taunt off gaze.
- Lord Sanguinar (SANG): warrior. AoE Fear. Tank in corner, away from raid.
- Grand Astromancer Capernian (CAP): mage. Fireball, Flamestrike, Conflagration (fire DoT debuff).
- Master Engineer Telonicus (TELO): engineer. Bombs (heavy fire AoE), Remote Toy mini-stun.
P1 Kill Order
Thaladred → Telonicus → Capernian → Sanguinar.
P1 Tank Pickup Order — Stacked Pull
All 4 advisors come down stacked. Only one is tanked at a time; the rest are killed in order as the tanks chain pickups. Drag each advisor away from the stack:
| Order | Tank | Advisor / Position |
|---|---|---|
| 1 (briefly) | Bluelazer | First advisor pickup ~2 seconds — Bear Growl-taunt opener. |
| 2 | Havitz | Takes second advisor, drags left side of the room. |
| 3 | Gladwrap (warlock-tank) | Takes third advisor on the right side (Capernian — mage fire damage). Soul Link + Voidwalker to mitigate. |
| 4 | Gayboi | Takes fourth advisor, drags left side (joins Havitz's pile). |
Phase 2 — The Weapons
Kael summons 7 enchanted weapons. Each has a unique mechanic during the fight AND can be picked up by the killing player after it dies, granting access to its on-use ability for the rest of the encounter. Pickup assignments matter — the Phaseshift Bulwark on-use is what keeps Havitz alive through Pyroblast in P5.
Weapon Pickup & Use — Per Raider
| Weapon | Type | Picked up by | Benefit (on-use) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Phaseshift Bulwark | Shield (1H slot) | Havitz | 100,000 damage absorb shield for 4 seconds. THE Pyroblast mitigation in P4-P5. Pop right before a Pyroblast lands if interrupts whiffed; the shield eats the entire ~50k hit. Also reflects damage back to attackers. |
| Cosmic Infuser | Mace (1H, healer) | Morrigan (or backup Voidtroyer) | Healing-class on-use that buffs heal targets with Fire and Shadow damage reduction. Use the heal on Havitz or whoever's at-risk; the resulting buff softens Pyroblast and Chaos Blast. |
| Devastation | Axe (2H) | Nocharles (or another Fury War with 2H axe spec) | High weapon damage + on-use damage burst. Fury warrior with Two-Handed Weapon Specialization gets the most out of it. |
| Infinity Blade | Sword (1H) | Grimmy (Ret) or Jays dumbass | Stacking magic damage taken debuff on Kael — boosts our 3-warlock + 2-mage DPS in P4/P5. Critical secondary use: melee swings on a Mind-Controlled raider instantly dispel the Mind Control. Whoever picks this up is the dedicated MC-breaker. |
| Staff of Disintegration | Staff (2H, caster) | Outis (Boomkin) or Moto (SP) | Frostbolt damage on-use. Bonus role: the wielder is the assigned dispeller for Telonicus's Remote Toy stun debuff in P3 — they target affected raiders and dispel. |
| Warp Slicer | Sword (1H) | Saexgg or Bushpig (Fury, 1H) | Stacking Rend debuff applied via melee swings on whoever has aggro. Boosts physical DPS sustained damage. Any 1H melee can use it. |
| Netherstrand Longbow | Bow (ranged) | Banderp or Dolmar | Multi-Shot attacks + auto-attacks apply a stacking physical damage taken debuff on Kael. Direct upgrade to physical DPS output. Note: the Longbow has no melee threat table in P2 — it must be tanked at range by a hunter or warlock. |
Weapon Mechanics During Phase 2 (before pickup)
- Cosmic Infuser: heals other weapons. Interrupt every cast. KILL FIRST.
- Devastation: high single-target damage. KILL SECOND.
- Phaseshift Bulwark: very high HP, Shield Bash reflects damage — be careful with melee burst on it. Tank pass-the-time mob.
- Infinity Blade: hits hard, applies armor debuff. Tankable.
- Staff of Disintegration: Frostbolt + Frost Nova on anyone in melee range — keep ranged DPS off it during P2.
- Warp Slicer: stacking Rend on whoever has aggro. Tankable.
- Netherstrand Longbow: Multi-Shot frontal — face away from raid. Has no melee threat table — a hunter or warlock kites it at range. Don't put a melee tank on it.
P2 Tank & DPS Plan
- Gayboi: stacks the tankable weapons center (Cosmic Infuser, Devastation, Infinity Blade, Phaseshift Bulwark) for cleave kill order. Holy Shield + Consecrate holds the pile.
- Havitz: tanks the axe (Devastation) off to the left when it splits from the cluster; picks up Phaseshift Bulwark after for the P5 absorb.
- Bluelazer: covers staff and any wandering weapon.
- Banderp: ranged-tanks Netherstrand Longbow (no melee threat table — hunter or warlock).
- Kill order: Cosmic Infuser → Devastation → Staff → Bow → Infinity Blade → Phaseshift Bulwark → Warp Slicer. Bulwark second-to-last so Havitz's absorb is fresh going into P4-P5.
P2 Healing Assignments
| Role | Healers |
|---|---|
| MT (Gayboi — stack of weapons center) | Morrigan + Crpc + Jerzee + Littlemoon (HoTs rolling) |
| OT (Havitz — axe off to the left) | Kalicar + Littlemoon (flex if OT phase is brief) |
| Bow tank healer (Banderp) | Voidtroyer |
| Raid damage healer | Voidtroyer (covers bow + raid) |
Phase 3 — Advisors Revived
All 4 advisors back at once. Same abilities, same kill order. Lower HP this time. Hold Bloodlust for P5.
P3 Tank → Healer Pairings
| Advisor | Tank | Healer |
|---|---|---|
| Thaladred (rogue, gaze) | Bluelazer (bear-kite) | Voidtroyer |
| Sanguinar (warrior, fear) | Havitz | Morrigan + Kalicar |
| Capernian (mage, fire) | Gladwrap (warlock-tank) | Littlemoon |
| Telonicus (engineer, bombs) | Gayboi | Crpc + Jerzee |
Phase 4 — Kael Alone
- Flamestrike: targeted ground patch, 3-second telegraph, ~10k fire. Move.
- Pyroblast: 4-second cast, ~50,000 fire damage if it lands. One-shots anyone unshielded. Must be interrupted every cast OR mitigated by the on-use of Phaseshift Bulwark (the shield looted from P2 weapons — keeps the Pyroblast target alive when interrupts whiff).
- Fireball: standard cast on tank.
- Mind Control: instant MC for ~10s. Dispel as Magic or CC them.
- Phoenix: summons a Phoenix add. Kill it; egg hatches another in 15s if not destroyed.
P4 Tanking
Havitz tanks Kael. Gayboi picks up Phoenix adds and their eggs. Bluelazer backup & DPS.
P4 Healing Assignments
| Role | Healers |
|---|---|
| MT (Havitz) | Morrigan + Crpc + Jerzee + Littlemoon |
| OT (Gayboi on Phoenix adds) | Littlemoon (overlap) + Kalicar |
| Raid (Flamestrike + Mind Control cleanup) | Voidtroyer |
P4 Pyroblast Interrupt Rotation
- Spoofy — Earth Shock (6s)
- Crpc — Earth Shock
- Jerzee — Earth Shock
- Ellic — Earth Shock (4-shaman chain — Spoofy/Ellic must hold Flame Shock for interrupt window)
- Jays dumbass — Kick
- Nocharles/Saexgg/Bushpig — Pummel (Berserker stance)
- Mafe/Kandin — Counterspell (last resort, school lockout)
Phase 4 → 5 Transition
When Kael hits ~50% he becomes invulnerable for 1 minute — this is the window to clean up Phoenix adds and eggs that built up during P4. Healers + DPS focus the Phoenixes; Gayboi consolidates them with Consecrate. P4 mechanics (Mind Control, Flamestrike) end here. P5 begins when invuln ends.
Phase 5 — Gravity Lapse
P5 replaces Mind Control + Flamestrike with Gravity Lapse + Nether Beam + Nether Vapor. Roughly 10-15s into P5, the first Gravity Lapse hits — Kael teleports the entire raid to him, then launches everyone into the air. Players can fly (mouse-controlled) but take ~150 damage/second from Nether Vapors. ~30s in flight per cast.
- Move away from center immediately when teleported — Kael cleaves the center.
- Nether Vapor adds float in the air; collision = AoE death. Dodge into open space.
- Pyroblasts still cast — Phaseshift Bulwark on cooldown for the Pyro target.
- Healers: Littlemoon Lifebloom 3-stack on Havitz + Rejuv top-up pre-launch — HoTs tick mid-air. Don't blanket-Rejuv everyone, it's too mana-costly; Lifebloom is the resto druid's bread and butter. Judgement of Light from Morrigan heals melee on hit and is invaluable here.
- Lifebloom stacks on Havitz are critical: the bloom from a 3-stack Lifebloom triggers when it falls off, giving a huge end-of-cast heal — combine that with Havitz's weapon-buff scaling and it's significant survivability through landing damage.
- After ~30s, gravity returns. Pre-position to land near healers.
P5 Tank Plan
Kael resets aggro on Gravity Lapse. Havitz opens with Charge + Demoralizing Shout + Devastate spam after fall.
P5 Healing Plan
| Role | Healer | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| MT healer | Morrigan | Holy Light spam on Havitz; instant FoL during gravity lapse (only instant cast available mid-air). |
| Raid heals (gravity lapse) | Littlemoon | Roll HoTs pre-launch; they tick mid-air. |
| Raid heals (ground) | Kalicar + Voidtroyer | CoH + PoH on cluster after fall. |
| Shaman heals | Crpc + Jerzee | Earth Shield on Havitz + Chain Heal between lapses. |
| Cooldowns | Morrigan Lay on Hands at <15%; Outis Tranquility on overlap | No Pain Suppression in our comp; rely on raw throughput. |
Healing Assignments — Full Encounter
| Phase | Tank healers | Raid healers |
|---|---|---|
| P1 Advisors | Morrigan Havitz, Voidtroyer Bluelazer, Kalicar Gayboi | Crpc, Jerzee, Littlemoon |
| P2 Weapons | Morrigan + Voidtroyer | All other healers; Chain Heal in cluster. |
| P3 Advisors revived | Same as P1 | Same as P1 |
| P4 Kael | Morrigan + Voidtroyer | Crpc, Jerzee, Littlemoon; Kalicar MC dispels. |
| P5 Gravity Lapse | Whoever lands near him | HoT-rollers (Littlemoon) most valuable. |
Dispel / Decurse Rotation (Kael)
- Capernian's Conflagration (Magic, P1/P3): Voidtroyer → Kalicar → Morrigan Cleanse.
- Mind Control (P4, Magic): Voidtroyer + Kalicar; Felhunters from Gladwrap/Meta/Gond Devour Magic.
- Pyroblast: not a debuff — interrupt rotation above.
- Remote Toy (Telonicus): short stun, not dispellable. Survive it.
Loot Highlights
- Verdant Sphere — teleporter to TK. Class quest item.
- The Phoenix Hatchling — pet; cosmetic but rare.
- Stanchion of Primal Instinct — Feral Druid weapon (note: Stanchion in TBC drops from Sunwell, not Kael — but plenty of Kael loot for Bluelazer).
- Crown of the Forgotten Kings — tank helm; Havitz.
- Cosmic Infuser, Devastation, etc. — the actual legendary weapons (vs P2 fight pickups); rare drops.
